Site Details
Area covered by Longstone Moor, Coombes Dale, Rough Side and High Fields. Park car at SK205731 and set off up High Rake into Coombes Dale, up Rough Side to the lake and back over hill to car.The site has high limestone hills, deep wooded gorges and open fields with a small lake with a hide (Bakewell BSG). Frequented by Peregrine, Ravens, Wheatear, Redstarts, warblers. Summer is excellent for wild flowers and butterflies too.

Buses to Great Longstone village - 4 or 73. To Stoney Middleton - 175 both from Bakewell. Operated by Hullys on 01246 582246Access
Open access on public footpaths. Use OS Landranger 119. Beware of mine workings - these are fenced. Not suitable for the disabled - stiles and steep climbs/descents.Parking
Free parking at SK205731 at the start of the prominent track High Rake.Opening Times

Coombes Dale holds in summer high numbers of warblers, Linnets and Redstarts with woodland birds in the wooded lower sections. Here and on Rough Side watch for Buzzards, Peregrines and Ravens on the limestone hillsides and circling above. On the upper sections look for Wheatears and Whinchat with Whitethroats.
